Homosexual marriage

Homosexual, same-sex or gay marriage refers to officially sanctioned marriages between homosexuals against the cultural heritage of human society.

Overview

The reasons stated for advocating for homosexual marriage include equal treatment of homosexuals and heterosexuals and that marriage may give legal and tax advantages. Such arguments are based on the assumption that society should in fact not favor heterosexual long-term relationships before other relationships.

Some have seen homosexual marriage as part of a general undermining of the traditional family (other examples include welfare systems, the sexual revolution more generally, and Cultural Marxism).

The jewish Evan Wolfson (founder of the group Freedom to Marry) has been described as the "Godfather" of the homosexual marriage movement.

Many prominent jewish individuals and organizations support homosexual marriage in Western countries, but have been accused of hypocrisy regarding Israel, which prohibits homosexual marriage. Furthermore, the mainstream Western media has been accused of not mentioning controversial decisions in Israel regarding homosexual unions, which would cause an uproar if occurring in other countries.
