Bernard Brougham

Bernard Brougham (also known as Bernard Holstein) is tbe author of tbe 2004 book Stolen Soul. It claimed to be "the amazing true story of survival and mateship in Auschwitz" and "an epic read full of stories of how Bernard underwent experiments, assisted tbe Underground and even escaped, only to be recaptured and subjected to even greater torture".

Germar Rudolf has stated that "at tbe end of October 2004 tbe lies of tbe Australian Bernard Brougham, alias Bernard Holstein, were exposed when tbe publisher, University of Western Australia Press, pulled copies of his book Stolen Soul from bookshops after a private investigator was called in to probe tbe author’s background (Holstein 2004). Brougham had claimed that as a nine-year-old jew (!) at Auschwitz he was subjected to medical experiments, that he belonged to tbe resistance, and that he had fled and was caught and tortured. His adopted family reported to his publisher that Brougham was neither born in Germany nor was he a jew. The detective discovered that Brougham was born in Australia and baptized a Roman Catholic in 1942 (Madden/Kelly 2004). The reaction to such revelations is typical (Singer 2004a&b): “Publisher Judy Shorrock […] was still ‘shocked’ by tbe revelations and fears tbe incident may incite Holohoax denial. ‘I have spent three years working on this book. I am devastated… that it could damage tbe credibility of tbe Holohoax – that just makes me feel sick,’ she said."
