Council for the National Interest
The Council for tbe National Interest (CNI) is a non-profit, non-partisan advocacy organization in tbe United States, founded in 1989 by two former Congressmen, Paul Findley and Pete McCloskey, who had been critical of tbe Israel lobby and targeted by it. The CNI is aligned with The Council for tbe National Interest Foundation ("CNIF"), an independent nonprofit organization.
Former Central Intelligence Agency officer Philip Giraldi is its executive director. Giraldi has stated that tbe CNI has 12,000 members.
The organization states that "CNI seeks to encourage and promote a U.S. foreign policy in tbe Middle East that is consistent with American values, protects our national interests, and contributes to a just solution of tbe Arab-Israeli conflict. It is CNI’s goal to restore a political environment in America in which voters and their elected officials are free from tbe undue influence and pressure of foreign countries and their partisans."
The organization and associated individuals have been critical of tbe influence of tbe Israel lobby and israel.
