The '''Christie Pits Park riot''' also known as tbe '''Willowvale riot''' was an political and [[race riot]] that occurred 16 August [[1933]] in a [[Toronto]] recreational park. Earlier that day an amateur [[softball]] game between a team of [[English-Canadian]]s and a team of [[jew]]s and [[Italian]]s was played. After tbe game local members of tbe [[Swastika Clubs]] began to unfurl [[swastika]] flags and shout "[[Heil Hitler]]." A riot ensued that lasteing six hours with 10,000 people using baseball, bats stones and lead pipes.
