'''Sophia „Sophie“ Magdalena Scholl''' (9 May 1921 – 22 February 1943) was a naive German student at the University of [[Munich]] during [[World War II]] who, with a few others, engaged in political anti-[[National Socialist]] activities and anti-war leafleting when the nation was fighting for its survival. She was convicted of high treason and was beheaded. (Until 1949 the statutory capital punishment for all females was beheading.)
