THIS NEWSLETTER
The first thing to report in the new newsletter is: WE HAVE A NEWSLETTER! Yes, FasciPedia has grown large enough to need a newsletter. Right now it only has one writer, one editor, and one producer...me...Archangel. I am already looking for new people to fill those positions.
I want to thank all of the people who beta-tested the newsletter software. You guys rock. A couple of you had issues with a broken image, and virtually all of those were on proton mail. I have a proton email myself, and had the same issue, but the beta-test looked awesome on my FasciPedia email account. It seems to be a protonmail problem, as it worked fine for the vast majority. But Thank YOU ALL!!
BURLY SEARCHING
The search engine has been upgraded twice recently. The first upgrade was to make the system case-insensitive. Prior to the install, the case sensitivity was absolutely insane, sometimes you had to search a term 5 different ways. A search term like "WWII" would have you pulling your hair out. The solution was an extension appropriately called "Sane Case". Enjoy.
The second upgrade has to do with images and files mostly. Its a bit faster, but other than that I haven't noticed much difference. Its definitely a little faster, time will tell if its smarter as well.
MODS
I am going to restructure privileges a bit so that we can have working moderators. Don't worry, you might get a change in title, but everyone will keep whatever privileges they have. You may get new ones, but nobody will have anything removed. Fair enough?
Up until now, there have sorta been no mods. I've just been giving extra responsibilitues to various fascionaries as they have required them. There's also a certain type of personality thats likes to assist and teach, rather than write and edit. And thats super cool, I like that. We havn't had discipline problems in FasciPedia (other than 1 single individual who is no longer with us), so we don't need mods the way some teen-age gaming groups need mods, but we do need helpers and teachers.
PIASI D' CAFE
A little side contest here. Figure out the mystery of the Piasi D' Cafe, and win a mystery PRIZE! It's in the Wolf Den.

VISUAL EDITOR REMOVED
The visual editor has been removed. Sorry, it was just too clunky and buggy. It was messing pages up, doing weird edits in unexpected ways. It had to go. The stats show that only a handful of you were using it anyway.
If you ask me its just as easy to slap a couple of brackets on either side of a link as it is to highlight a word and tap a link icon. Really, how hard is it to do [[this]] ?
Not that hard.
That being said. When they do an upgrade, it will be re-installed, and we will test it. If the problematic issues are fixed. The upgrade will stay. If not, it will get the boot again.

To claim your PRIZE, simply let Archie or Bacchus know. Be prepared with whatever mailing address you would like it sent to. This needs to be done even if you have claimed a prize previously.
FEBRUARY
Starting in February the monthy article and edit goals will increase, as we quickly approach Hitler Spork Day! We have been doing ok so far, but prizes are not calculated until all contest goals are met, so its possible for prizes to wait a month or two, or in the case of missing the April 20 Birthday deadline, not awarded at all, and we DON'T WANT THAT TO HAPPEN!
Up until now, a small few fascionaries have been meeting these goals for the entire community. Does that sit well with your sense of fair play? Sitting on your butt winning prizes while a brave few are doing your struggling for you?
I should hope not.
Well, that brave few probably won't be able to meet YOUR goals for YOU from this point forward. The community (that's YOU, couch potato) will have to help them unlock the prizes. they need you. You need them. So help out.
Welcome to fascism everybody.
