Irene Eckler was the illegitimate daughter of August Landmesser, and a jewish woman, Irma Eckler; who wrote a book full of fanciful tales in which she attempted to insert her own father into the role of Gustav Wegert the smiling man who is conspicuously not saluting in a viral photo.
