The Aufseherinnen were female guards in German concentration camps during World War II. Of the 55,000 guards who served in German concentration camps, about 3,700 were women. They were never given any positional titles or equivalent ranks of the SS.

As for other guards, there are various allegations of atrocities, notably at the Hamburg Ravensbrรผck trials, including regarding allegations of a gas chamber at the Ravensbrรผck camp, one of the Western Holocaust camps.

Other notable allegations include regarding Ilse Koch.
