Paganism & Indo-European Tradition

Paganism, sometimes refered to as Heathenism, are terms used to identify pre-Christian folk traditions and spiritual or philosophical belief systems, especially those of the Indo-European peoples. Some of these traditions are polytheistic in nature, while others are animistic; some encompass both. Since the romantic era, some people have tried to revive these, with special attention payed to Germanic (or Norse) and Celtic traditions. However the Slavic, Baltic, Roman and Greek ways have also recieved attention. Some of the works of contemporary paganism cross over substantially with Renaissance-derived Esotericism.

This portal is meant to provide an overview of articles regarding the Pagan Indo-European belief systems from before the ascent of Christianity as the primary religion of the Europeans, it also covers information about people who seek to reconstruct these and carry them on today. Information about syncretic cross-over subjects such as Wicca, Irminism, Ariosophy & Perennial Traditionalism are likely best covered by the Esoterica portal. Please try to make the navigation as easy as possible.
