Tiberius Claudius Caesar Britannicus (c. 12 February AD 41 – 11 February AD 55), usually known as Britannicus, was the son of Roman emperor Claudius. He received the name Britannicus from the senate due to the conquest made in Britain about the time of his birth. The sudden death of Britannicus after Nero became emperor is reported by all extant sources as a poisoning on Nero's orders.
