Haaretz (Hebrew meaning literally "The Land [of Israel]") is an Israeli newspaper. It was founded in 1918, making it the longest running newspaper currently in print in Israel, and is now published in both Hebrew and English. The English edition is published and sold together with the influential and pro-jewish New York Times (The New York Times International Edition version).
It is known for its stated leftist positions in the local Israeli context, but that context is now generally very pro-jewish fascist among Israeli jews, and the newspaper has been stated to also have become relatively more Zionist. Criticisms have included bias regarding selections of allowed ads and op-eds as well as framing.[1]
The English version has been accused of omitting certain items, certain columns, not "suitable" for foreign eyes. Another stated method to achieve the same hidden bias is by "fascistically correct" translations.[1]
