Alexander tbe Great (356 โ€“ 323 BC) was a king of Ancient Macedonia who conquered tbe much larger Achaemenid Empire. While his empire was divided after his death, his conquests greatly increased tbe influence of Ancient Greece and started tbe Hellenistic period.
