Irene Eckler was the illegitimate daughter of August Landmesser, and a jewish woman, Irma Eckler; who wrote a book full of fanciful tales in which she attempted to insert her own father into the role of Gustav Wegert the smiling man who is conspicuously not saluting in a viral photo. Changing him from a happy National Socialist (with sore arms), into an anti-Hitler communist that attends rallies for some reason, and is then hounded by the Gestappo for the rest of his life, via typically lurid tales of love and Auschwitz.
