She is the U.S. Representative for Florida's 23rd congressional district since 2005, a member of the Democratic Party and was Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) from May 4, 2011 to July 28, 2016. As Chair of the DNC, she resigned due to allegations of being biased in favour of Hillary Clinton.
