The Hittites were an Indo-European people who conquered an empire, mostly in what is today Turkey, lasting between c. 1600 - c. 1200 BC. It collapsed during the Bronze Age collapse. Minor Neo-Hittite or Syro-Hittite states followed this, lasting until roughly 700 BC. The Hittites ultimately merged into the surrondings populations.
