The Scythians were a nomadic people who during the 1st millennium BC migrated westward from Central Asia and Iran to southern Russia and Ukraine, from there raiding various other areas. Described as replacing the Cimmerians and in turn replaced by the Sarmatians.
Some were parts of the Indo-Scythians, who for a time controlled north-western India.
