Hubert Schmuederrich (born ca. 1902) of Yorkville, New York founded the Grey Shirts of America. Schmuederrich was essentially a propagandist with little or no organizational following. He authored the book The Grey Shirt: 1933-1940.
Schmuederrich fought the Communists in the streets of Germany when he was with the NSDAP. He came to America in 1926.[1] In April 1942 he was arrested by the FBI for failing to register for the military draft.
