The Association of Georgia Klans was the second Klan organization to exist with the same name. This group was formed in 1960. A previous group was formed in 1944.
The second Association of Georgia Klans was organized in 1960 by Charles Homer Maddox. Members followed Maddox out of the U.S. Klans, Knights of the Ku Klux Klan after the death of the groups leader Eldon Edwards in August 1960.
A 1964 FBI assessment of the group listed it as the tenth largest Klan in America with 35 members.[1]
