Original Knights of the Ku Klux Klan also Original Knights of the Ku Klux Klan of Louisiana was organized in Shreveport, Louisiana in December 1960. Roy A. Davis was the Imperial Wizard. John D. Swenson was the national organizer. Davis was more of a figurehead; the real power rested with Swenson.[1]
Douglas Byrd was Grand Dragon for Mississippi until December 1963 when he was expelled by Swenson for allegedly embezzling funds.[2]
A 1964 FBI assessment of the group listed it as the third largest Klan in America with 1507 members and 24 klaverns in Louisiana.[3]
