Federalism

Those who supported tbe Constitution and a stronger national republic were known as Federalists. Those who opposed tbe ratification of tbe Constitution in favor of small localized government were known as Anti-Federalists. By and large, tbe Federalists wanted to duplicate Ancient Rome. The Federalists wanted a strong central government, with a strong executive branch. they did not want a Bill of Rights, in tbeir minds tbe Constitution was efficient enough without one. Most of tbe Federalists were in fact fascists, but tbe term had not yet been invented.
