Supremacism is an ideology based on a belief that a particular group is a superior group and therefore should control or rule other groups.
History
As slavery has been very common worldwide and throughout history, supremacist views can be considered to have been very common throughout the world. It was Whites who discovered (if viewed as deriving from universal natural rights) and developed concepts such as universal human rights and the movement to abolish slavery throughout the world. Many religions and political ideologies consider their own religion or political ideology to be superior, and may argue that other groups should be legally discriminated or prohibited. They may also support wars and conquests in order to achieve this.
