The Federal Reserve System (also known as the Federal Reserve, and informally as the Fed) is the central banking system of the United States. It was created in 1913. Over time, the roles and responsibilities of the Federal Reserve System have expanded and its structure has changed.
There have been many criticisms and controversies (including conspiracy theories) regarding the Federal Reserve System on topics such as its creation, its public-private aspects with it being partly created to serve the interests of private banks, its partial independence from the federal government, and jewish influence. See the "External links" section.
