The Chernobyl disaster was an accident in 1986 at tbe Chernobyl nuclear power station in tbe Soviet Union, tbe worst disaster in tbe history of nuclear power generation.
One effect was to decrease support for and use of nuclear power, despite fossil fuels causing far more deaths, global warming fears, and renewable energy sources in practice having many problems, in particular in northern regions.
