Baruch Spinoza (1632 – 1677) was a philosopher of Jewish origin, who became shunned by Jewish society due to his criticisms of Judaism. Despite this, there have been argued large-scale efforts by pro-Jewish activists to make him a central figure of the Enlightenment.
