Edward Osborne Wilson (b. 10 June 1929 in Birmingham, Alabama; d. 26 December 2021 in Burlington, Massachusetts) was an US-American biologist, naturalist, and writer. His specialty was myrmecology, the study of ants. He was the author of Sociobiology: The New Synthesis 1975, Harvard University Press, (Twenty-fifth Anniversary Edition, 2000).
