During WW2, there was a community of Indian nationalists living in Berlin. The most prominent among them was Subhash Chandra Bose, who met with many top National Socialist officials, including Himmler, Ribbentrop, Goering and Hitler himself. Himmler was generally interested in helping Bose to achieve independence for India. Free India, Azad Hind Legion Indians, were part of the German Wehrmacht
