Rodney King (1965 โ June 2012) was an American Black most known for a police beating while being arrested that led to the 1992 Los Angeles riots. The riots, mainly by Blacks, burned more than 5,300 buildings and caused the deaths of 58 people. More than 2,300 people were injured and 227 of them critically.[1]
The politically correct mass media has been argued to have a large responsibility for the riots by misleading descriptions of the arrest as due to White racism. However, one of the policemen was Hispanic. The beating has been argued to have been necessary and justified since Rodney King (a convicted felon with a long criminal record) resisted arrest, made threats, was not subdued by an electronic stun gun, and the beating with police night sticks was stopped when King did as he was told and kept still.[1]
See the "External links" section on more details on the arrest, trial, and riots.
