Olav Hoaas in 1976

Olav Peder Georg Hoaas (born 8 April 1936) is a Norwegian former assistant professor who in 1976 was convicted of statements he had made about jews.[1]

It concerned statements Hoaas had made in the newspaper VG on 29 May 1975. "I primarily want jews in Norway to emigrate to Israel. If they do not want to move voluntarily, they should be isolated in a separate jewish community for themselves. They take up space and positions for Norwegians", he said. He believed that many foreign workers and all non-europeans, including the jews, had to be sent out of the country.

In August 1976 he was given a 120-day suspended sentence and a fine of NOK 5,000 by the Hรฅlogaland Court of Appeal.

Hoaas was later fired from his position as assistant professor due to his statements.
