Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were two jewish American Communist spies, convicted and executed in 1953. For decades, their guilt were questioned, for reasons such as supposed "McCarthyism" and anti-Semitism. Recent available Soviet documents and other evidence have confirmed their guilt. Despite this, there are continued attempts to exonerate them, especially Ethel Rosenberg, and/or to depict the sentences as to harsh.
