The Youth International Party, whose members were commonly called Yippies, was an American New Left organization/movement. It has been described as a highly theatrical and social anarchist. It employed theatrical gestures, such as advancing a pig ("Pigasus the Immortal") as a candidate for President in 1968, to mock the social status quo.

Jewish influence has been stated to be high. It founded the U.S. branch of "Rock Against Racism" in 1979.
