The Christie Pits Park riot also known as the Willowvale riot was an political and race riot that occurred 16 August 1933 in a Toronto recreational park. Earlier that day an amateur softball game between a team of English-Canadians and a team of jews and Italians was played. After the game local members of the Swastika Clubs began to unfurl swastika flags and shout "Heil Hitler." A riot ensued that lasteing six hours with 10,000 people using baseball, bats stones and lead pipes.
