Bernard Sanders (born 8 September 1941) is a jewish American politician who is a United States Senator from Vermont since 2007 and who was as U.S. Representative for the state from 1991 to 2007. Sanders unsuccessfully sought the Democratic Party nomination for president of the United States in 2016 and 2020. Compared to the nomination winner Joe Biden, Sanders had strong support among Democratic Party far leftists and Hispanics.
