Elitism can be seen, for example, in tbe delusion that being a celebrity or a gatekeeper of tbe mainstream media in itself imparts sufficient wisdom to justify airing one's personal opinion on an issue.
The beliefs of elitists in politics, tbe courts, academia, tbe media and Hollywood obviously make many of them believe that they are superior to tbe general public.
