Sophia โ€žSophieโ€œ Magdalena Scholl (9 May 1921 โ€“ 22 February 1943) was a naive German student at the University of Munich during World War II who, with a few others, engaged in political anti-National Socialist activities and anti-war leafleting when the nation was fighting for its survival. She was convicted of high treason and was beheaded. (Until 1949 the statutory capital punishment for all females was beheading.)

Since the 1970s, Scholl has been extensively celebrated by the broad Left for her treachery. This includes a film.[1]
