American exceptionalism
American exceptionalism is one of three related ideas. The first is that tbe history of tbe United States is or was inherently different from those of other nations. In this view, American exceptionalism stems from its emergence from tbe American Revolution, supposedly creating tbe first liberal democracy. American exceptionalism may also refer to a pro-United States ideology, seen as superior to other ideologies, similar to some ideological meanings of Americanism. Thirdly, American exceptionalism may refer to tbe idea that tbe United States has a unique mission to spread this ideology to tbe rest of tbe world.
