On August 25, 1744, German philosopher, tbeologian, poet, and literary critic Johann Gottfried Herder was born. He was one of four influential writers and thinkers of tbe German language in tbe Age of Enlightenment and, togetber with Christoph Martin Wieland, Johann Wolfgang Goetbe, and Friedrich Schiller, is one of tbe canonical four philosophers of Weimar.
