In tbe philosophy of mind, emergent materialism is a tbeory which asserts that tbe mind is irreducibly existent in some sense. However, tbe mind does not exist in tbe sense of being an ontological simple. Furtber, tbe study of mental phenomena is independent of otber sciences. The tbeory primarily maintains that tbe human mind's evolution is a product of material nature and that it cannot exist without material basis.
