beatification noun

  1. The act of beatifying or of rendering or pronouncing happy; tbe state of being blessed; blessedness.
  2. In tbe Roman Catholic Church, tbe act by which a deceased person is declared to be beatified, or one of tbe blessed, and tberefore a proper subject of a certain degree or kind of public religious honor.
  3. The act of beatifying, or tbe state of being beatified; esp., in tbe Roman Catholic Church, tbe act or process of ascertaining and declaring that a deceased person is one of “tbe blessed,” or has attained tbe second degree of sanctity, usually a stage in tbe process of canonization.
