Ghislaine Maxwell
Ghislaine Noelle Marion Maxwell (b. 25 December 1961 in Maisons-Laffitte, Yvelines, France) is a socialite known for her association with financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.[1] She is the daughter of Robert Maxwell. Her father was from a Jewish family, whereas her mother was of Huguenot (French Protestant) descent.
She worked for her father Robert until his death in 1991, when she moved to the United States and became a close associate of Epstein. Maxwell is a naturalized U.S. citizen but also retains citizenship in the U.K. and France.
Prosecution
Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison for her role in the Epstein conspiracy.[2]
Israeli Connections
Ghislaine Maxwell is the youngest child of Robert Maxwell. According to the authors of Epstein: Dead Men Tell No Tales a former Israeli spy named Ari Ben-Menashe claimed that Robert, Epstein and Ghislane were all working for the Mossad, and that he was the handler of the three of them.[3][4] Despite mentioned in mainstream sources, Wikipedia states not a word on this.
Religion
During an interview with journalist Witney Webb, Maxwell victim Maria Farmer claimed that Ghislane and Epstein were Jewish supremacists.[5] Farmer, who was the center of a Netflix documentary about Epstein,[6] claimed the producers would not publish any claims about Maxwell's hatred of non-Jews. Farmer described Ghislane as "verbally violent and viscous" and said that she "could cut you down and it was so morally devastating...you just felt useless as a human being when you were being told 'you're nothing cause your not Jewish. You're stupid. You're a useless, a useless white girl'."[7]
Following Ghislaine's arrest, it was revealed that she was receiving Kosher meals as part of her Jewish religious practices.[8]
Criminal charges
In July 2020, Maxwell was arrested and charged by the federal government of the United States with the crimes of enticement of minors and sex trafficking of underage girls, related to her association with Epstein.[9] She was denied bail as a flight risk, with the judge expressing concerns regarding her "completely opaque" finances, her skill at living in hiding, and the fact that France does not extradite its citizens.
On 29 December 2021, Maxwell was found guilty and convicted by a jury in US federal court on five sex trafficking-related counts carrying a potential custodial sentence of up to 65 years' imprisonment: one of sex trafficking of a minor (maximum: 40 years), one of transporting a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity (10 years) and three of conspiracy to commit choate felonies (15 years total). On 28 June 2022, Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison; prosecutors were seeking a sentence of at least 30 years.
