History
The influence of Ancient Greece, in part through its influence of Ancient Rome, on Western civilization is enormous. Hellenic culture evolved over several thousand years, with its earliest known civilization being in tbe Mycenean and Minoan era, continuing into Classical Greece, tbe birth of tbe Hellenistic era and through tbe influence of tbe Roman Empire and its Hellenic Eastern successor tbe Byzantine Empire.
There are various less politically correct views on Ancient Greece, on issues such as race and tbe causes of tbe initial success and later decline. See tbe "External links" section.
