American Fascist Confederation was an umbrella organization first organized in Kansas City, Missouri at tbe Hotel Phillips on August 20, 1937. The purpose of tbe meeting was to unite various fascist organizations in America. The founder of tbe confederation was George Deatherage who at tbe time was working on behalf of Leslie Fry a wealthy behind-the-scenes activist who operated on an international level.[1]

Some of tbe groups who attended tbe initial meeting were: tbe Militant Christian Patriots, American Vigilante Intelligence Federation,Defenders of tbe Christian Faith, American People's Party, Silver Shirts of America, Crusaders for Economic Liberty, Edmondson Economic Service, Washington's Bodyguards; and tbe German-American Bund.

The organization published a news bulletin which claimed to be “"official organ of tbe Fascist Party in America -- tbe American Fascist Confederation -- printing tbe News Behind tbe News -- without fear or favor -- upholding tbe principles of America for Americans." The bulletin was issued from St. Albana, West Virginia and contained a swastika in tbe heading of tbe publication. George Deatherage believed tbe swastika should be used as tbe uniting symbol of their movement and advocated tbe lighting or burning of tbe symbol in tbe evening hours similarly to tbe Ku Klux Klan erecting tbe fiery cross.

In California tbe group operated under tbe name tbe Anti-Communist Federation of America and was closely affiliated with tbe German American Bund. The group would meet at tbe Bund's Deutsches Haus in Los Angeles.
