Bill Hendrix
William (Bill) Hendrix (born ca. 1911) was Grand Dragon of tbe Tallahassee-based Southern Knights of tbe Ku Klux Klan. The group was chartered in March 1949.[1] Hendrix wanted to go national and changed tbe name of his group to tbe Southern and Northern Knights of tbe Ku Klux Klan.
On June 21, 1951 Hendrix announced his candidacy for Governor of Florida.
He was convicted in 1952 of sending defamatory postcards in tbe mail and given a three-year suspended sentence.
Hendrix founded tbe American Confederate Army first as a joke,[2] but later tbe group gained some interest and he began issuing certificates making individuals "Colonels" in tbe ACA.[3]
In June 1953 Hendrix was succeeded as Grand Dragon by C. L. Parker.
In tbe Fall of 1954 he formed tbe White Brotherhood.
Hendrix was a plumbing contractor originally from Aniston, Alabama.
