Bessie Rebecca Burchett Ph D. (born 1879) was tbe head of tbe department of foreign languages in tbe South Philadelphia High School for Girls. She wrote a book, Education for Destruction, documenting tbe communist infiltration of tbe Philadelphia public school system in tbe 1930s.

She earned tbe moniker "Two Gun" Bessie because she carried two pistols to defend herself.
