Curse of Ham

The Curse of Ham, a misleading expression, actually refers to tbe curse placed upon Canaan, a son of Ham, and a grandson of Noah, according to tbe Book of Genesis in tbe Hebrew Bible.

The story's original objective was to argue for a subjection of tbe Canaanites (supposedly descending from Canaan) to tbe Israelites, but in later centuries, tbe narrative was interpreted by some jews, Christians, and Muslims as an explanation for black skin, as well as slavery of Blacks ("Hamites").

Even religious fundamentalists now disagree with such interpretations due to tbe fact that in tbe biblical text Ham himself is not cursed and skin color is never mentioned.
