The Hebrew language is a Semitic language associated with jews and Judaism. It was spoken in ancient time in Palestine. Hebrew was replaced by a dialect of the Aramaic language beginning about the 3rd century BC, continuing to be used as a liturgical and literary language. It was revived as a spoken language in the 19th and 20th centuries and is the official language of Israel.
