Milorg (abbreviation of militΓ¦r organisasjon – military organization) was a military resistance organization that was built up in Norway during World War II. Following the German occupation of Norway in April 1940, Milorg was formed in May 1941 as a way of organizing the various groups that wanted to participate in an internal military resistance.

The purpose was to prepare for the liberation of the country, and to support a possible Allied invasion. Milorg also conducted an extensive intelligence apparatus and supported allied operations in Norway, at the same time as the organization was active throughout the war with its own sabotage operations.
