Murphy Ranch
Murphy Ranch was a so-called "Nazi" compound located in Rustic Canyon in the Los Angeles region of southern California in the 1930s. The group were mostly American survivalists associated with William Dudley Pelleyβs Silver Shirt organization.
In 1933 the 50 acre property was purchased by a woman named Jessie Murphy which appears to be a false name for the real owners Norman Stephens and his wife Winona. They began improvements upon the land building their own fuel tank, power plant and water source. The group planned to build their own like-minded community to survive a coming war in case America was defeated and sank into anarchy. They planned to create a National Socialist command center on the west coast where they would wait out the war and then emerge to impose order upon the land.
