Constantinople is the name of the city that was the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire (often referred to as the Byzantine Empire), named after Constantine I. It was founded by the Greeks in 657 BC and named Byzantium. In 1930 Constantinople was renamed Istanbul by Turkey[1].
