He is a former member of the advisory board of ''The Occidental Quarterly'' and a former director of the National Policy Institute, a Virginia-based white nationalist think tank. He is also a board member and spokesperson of the Council of Conservative Citizens.

Born to missionary parents in [[Japan]], Taylor lived in Japan until he was 16 years old. He graduated from Yale University in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts in [[Philosophy]], and graduated from ''Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po)'' in 1978 with a Master of Arts (postgraduate) in  International economics. Taylor speaks fluent English, Japanese and French.


In the 1980s, Taylor was West Coast editor of PC Magazine and a consultant before founding the ''[[American Renaissance]]'' magazine in 1990. In his 1992 book ''[[Paved With Good Intentions: The Failure of Race Relations in Contemporary America]]'', he hypothesizes that [[multiracialism]] in the [[United States]] is the cause of many of todays social ills.


Taylor and many of his affiliated organizations promote  civil rights, news, and academics to study current events happening in the United States. Taylor describes himself as an advocate for white interests, stating that his publication, ''American Renaissance'', was found to provide a voice for concerns, and mentions that its work is analogous to other groups that advocate for ethnic or racial interests.

Taylor presents his segregationist project as based on civil liberties and freedom of association, and has described government-mandated segregation as morally unjust. He believes that all anti-discrimination laws "from the Civil Rights Act of 1964 onward" are an unacceptable expansion of federal power. Taylor also opposes race mixing as impinging on the freedom of association of private citizens.

Samuel Jared Taylor (born 15 September 1951) is an American journalist and an advocate of what he calls “race realism.” He is the founder and editor of American Renaissance, a webzine that describes itself as “America’s premiere publication of race-realist thought.” Taylor is the president of the magazine’s parent organization, New Century Foundation.
