The Sea Peoples were a group of seafaring peoples who raided and invaded the East Mediterranean prior to and during the Bronze Age collapse (c. 1200 BC).

There have been many theories regarding their origins, but they are often seen as at least partially originating in European areas.

One theory is that the Sea Peoples used new technology, such as new weaponry and new tactics by large numbers of skirmishers, who could swarm and cut down older chariot armies, which would destabilize states that were based upon the use of chariots by the ruling class. That would precipitate an abrupt social collapse as raiders began to conquer and loot the cities.

Less politically correct aspects include possible similarities with the fall of the Roman Empire and possible race aspects.
